Melanie has a passion for creating sculptural forms and jewelry gives her the opportunity to work on a smaller scale than her metal garden sculptures. She enjoys carving in wax and using the lost wax process to create her original pendants. The challenges of resolving a unique found piece into a coherent new beaded necklace fulfill her love for problem solving. Her innate sense of color, form and balance guide her to know when a piece is finished and ready to share. The same process is used regardless of which scale or medium she is working with.
Ask Melanie about making minor repairs on your favorite jewelry or creating custom designs. She also accepts donations of your well-loved and retired jewelry pieces that can be used in the Rebirthed Collection.
The intimate moments of pregnancy, birth and the mother/baby relationship that Melanie witnesses in her career as a Midwife, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Lactation Consultant inspire her jewelry which celebrate the feminine spirit and transformation.
She combines the graceful feminine curves with attributes from ancient goddesses to create her modern Goddess Collection. Each Goddess has a name and story about her. You can choose from several different stones to personalize your goddess. Also ask about a custom beaded design that includes a goddess pendant. There are 2 styles of earrings to go with the pendants - a half size goddess and a dangle with shapes that echo each goddess.
The name and meaning of each of these goddesses reminds us to claim our strength, power and confidence to go forth as Empowered Women!
Her roots in sustainable living have drawn her to collect well-loved, retired jewelry components which she artfully combines with enchanting gemstones and precious metals to form her Rebirthed Collection. Each unique piece includes a birth story about its creation and meaning of the stones.
Melanie is committed to supporting families through sustaining midwifery care in New Mexico by donating 10% of her proceeds from this collection to support diversity and midwifery education.
